A case of chronic rheumatism with osteoporosis

chronic rheumatism osteoporosis cure homeopathy

This is the same case of the elderly lady whose suppressed rheumatic pains in the knees resulted in heart problems. We have talked about this case earlier.

Chronic rheumatism has no cure in any other system of medicine except homoeopathy. It is a very tricky disease condition which moves from organ to organ or it may metamorphose into another disease condition with great rapidity.

Coming back to the elderly lady, a few months later (after her cure from TB) she developed severe pains in the left hip joint. She could not sit for than a few seconds. She could only lie down. Surprisingly she felt no pain on walking.

A X-Ray revealed a slight fracture in the hip bone. The orthopaedic doctor said the fracture was caused by osteoporosis (a disease in elderly people in which the bones get progressively 'soft'). He advised complete bed rest for a month. He prescribed calcium tablets and multi-vitamin tablets to be taken daily. After a few days the lady developed severe constipation. The doctor gave her a liquid laxative. The lady was the active type, so bed rest for a month was hell to her.

The family came to me then. Chronic rheumatic pain in the hips on the left side has only one remedy: Phytolacca Decandra. I gave it to her in the 6C potency, to be taken twice a day. The lady hated the calcium tablets. It gave her constipation. I advised her to stop taking them and prescribed Calc Phos 6X. I also gave her a dose of Carcinosinum 30 once every ten days.

Within two months the hip pain was gone. The lady did not have be bed-ridden as advised by the allopathic orthopaedic doctor!

A case of suppressed chronic rheumatism leading to high blood pressure and tuberculosis

The lady was 72 years of age. She had had prolapsus of uterus (Sepia would have cured her then) thirty years ago. She underwent surgery to have it removed. It was after that rheumatic pains in the knees started. (Prolapse of uterus indicates a strong sycotic element. When the uterus was removed the disease assumed the form of chronic rheumatism).

The lady had excruciating pains in the knees. She tried all sorts of ointments, something which Kent warns us against. He says in his Lectures on the Materia Medica
Rheumatism that goes from the lower to the upper limbs. Not uncommonly you will meet such things. These "rubbers" that go around the streets with a strong liniment and considerable magnetism frequently do cause a rheumatism to leave the knee joint, and when it does that, the heart is likely to be the organ that suffers.

Then Kalmia, Aurum, Bryonia, Rhus tox., Ledum, Calc. and Abrotanum, and sometimes Cactus, are remedies that prove suitable for such cardiac affections. Rheumatic affections that are driven away in this manner are changed without being cured. The people cannot realize the danger, of merely removing symptoms. Every removal that is not in accordance with cure affects the centres of man, that is the heart and brain.

One of the ointment was so 'effective' that the knee pains disappeared. And the disease condition moved to the heart. She started having pains in the heart and high blood pressure.

That is when the lady consulted a leading allopathic cardiologist. The good doctor prescribed so good a medicine that the heart pains subsided. But a few days later the lady contacted pneumonia which later turned to tuberculosis.

The allopath promptly precribed the allopathic drug for TB; 4 capsules a day early in the morning, to be taken for nine months!

The lady took the capsules diligently for two days, then started vomiting.

It was then the family came to me. After understanding her case history, I realised that the TB was a result of the suppression of her knee pain. The aim was to bring back the knee pains. Otherwise the lady was moving deathward. (Pathology moving from less important parts to more vital ones. Prafull Vijayakar explains this in his Predictive Homoeopathy: Part 1).

The cure had to be TB>Back to heart preoblem>Knee rheumatism. If things moved that way, I could be sure, the lady would be saved. Hering's direction of cure. That would be real cure.

Kent mentions certain remedies for heart trouble arising from suppressing rheumatism of the knees. And out of them only Aurum Met is indicated for sycotic tuberculosis in Murphy's Repertory.

I promptly precribed Aurum met 200C to be given once a week. The lady's condition started aggravating. Even after some time things did not improve. I reduced the potency. I made it Aurum met 30C one dose every third day. I permitted her to continue taking the TB capsules but in a reduced dose.

Within a month her tuberculosis had subsided and her heart pains started. I told the lady to continue with Aur 30C.

After some days, the heart pains stopped and her knees starting aching again. The TB report said she was cured.

The lady complained about the knee pains. I explained to her that it either that or she could have the high blood pressure and TB back!

The lady wisely agreed to take the knee pains.
